Emerging Community

// November 11th, 2005 // church

We are seeking to be a community,
where we eschew Q&A for dialogue,
where beauty, art and creativity are valued and expressed as they come from God,
where culture is met, embraced and transformed,
where we live in the retelling of the ancient story of God,
where we can see value in struggle and find peace in tension,
where we value the stories of individuals and make place for them to be told,
where justice and equality are understood as pure religion,
where the atonement of Jesus is more than a transaction,
where we live and participate in the message of Christ to this world.

We hold to the ancient views of the church as held in the Apostles and Nicene creeds.

    I just finished teaching a third year course at AUC on Christianity and Culture. One of the assignments was to write a 2500 word Christianity and Culture manifesto and to start a blog that would run during the semester. You can have a look at some of the blogs through my http://www.ingenuityarts.com website. The connection to you came through Joe. I found Joe in my search for a work-related video.

    What is Calgary like in terms of the kinds of conversations that are going on in your blog? I moved here less than a year ago and I’m trying to figure out what is happening here with the so-called emergent church movment. Simon Goff from Victoria sends me some bits now and then I haven’t actually connected with very many Calgary people who are on that page.
