The Trouble with Palms

I don’t understand what is happening here. My little palm tree that I have had, healthy and presumably happy for over a year, is now on the verge of death. I have asked for help and been offered the least helpful comments I could imagine… have you watered it? Is it getting enough sunlight? Oh right, water and sunlight, how could I have forgotten those less than obvious options. For the record, yes it has water (not too much, in fact exactly the same amount I have given it for the past year) and sunlight in equal measure as well. Perhaps, as all things, palm trees too must pass.
A friend recently wanted to buy a watch that had, across its face, “remember, you will die”. Morbid but true. Perhaps my palm tree has become my watch.
I am sad.
